Hundreds of devotees gather at Datta Mandir in Orulem-Vasco

The auspicious occasion of Datta Jayanti was celebrated with great religious fervour on Saturday at the Datta Mandir in Orulem, Vasco. The temple witnessed hundreds of devotees who thronged the premises to participate in the celebrations and to seek blessings.
Prominent dignitaries, including Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson Girish Borker, Vasco BJP Mandal President Deepak Naik, and others, graced the event.
Extending his wishes to the public, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar said, “Datta Jayanti is the biggest celebration in the auspicious Margashirsh month of the Hindu calendar. This is the 16th year of Datta Jayanti celebration at this Datta Mandir in Orulem. Datta Maharaj holds immense significance in Hinduism as a Guru and a deity who is the first to respond in times of need.”
Salkar highlighted the temple’s community-oriented initiatives, stating, “The temple organises a Maha Prasad during Datta Jayanti, where hundreds of devotees partake in the meal after prayers. Additionally, the temple conducts various social, religious, and cultural programmes throughout the week to mark the occasion.”
He added that the temple committee is committed to serving the community beyond religious events.
“They undertake initiatives such as felicitating prominent individuals and offering scholarships to children. These efforts reflect the temple’s dedication to the well-being of society,” said the MLA.
