A two lakh square meters parcel of land in Tivim is proposed to be declared as an 'investment area' by the Goa IPB for a private university -- MIT World Peace University.

The Pune-based university proposes to set up its campus at Tivim where it will offer a wide range of courses in engineering, marine engineering, medical science, management studies, arts, journalism, public policy among other fields.

The University had got an in-principle nod for the proposal from Goa IPB several months ago. The board through a notification in the official gazette has now proposed to declare the said area as Investment Promotion Area and has sought feedback from the general public.

The University is being proposed under the State's Private University's Act.

Objections if any have been now invited from the public to the proposal to declare the two-lakh square meters of land at Tivim as investment promotion area.

The parcel of land is part of the property surveyed under Survey number 88/1.

According to the notification, the objections and suggestions must be filed before the Director of Industries, Trade and Commerce at Udyog Bhavan near Azad Maidan in Panaji within a month.
