Barely hours after a fast food outlet outside the Alankar Theatre in Mapusa was de-sealed by the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA), the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC) re-sealed the outlet on Saturday night.
An MMC team went to the site at about 8.30 pm and sealed the fast food outlet, which is owned by Sitaram Sawant.
Incidentally, the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) had also taken action against this fast food restaurant, among others, a few days ago.
The fast food outlet was then de-sealed on Saturday with the approval of the FDA.
The team pasted a notice on the shop stating that the fast food shop had been sealed as per the oral instructions of municipal authorities.
The owner of the fast food outlet, however, accused the MMC of illegally sealing his outlet.
“We have not been sent any notice from the MMC. In fact, the restaurant was opened today after getting FDA approval. Still, the MMC team did not have an answer as to why the council took this action to seal the premises,” Sawant told reporters.
“The action by the MMC is illegal,” he alleged.
