The newly redesigned Headquarters, Administrative & Training Block of the Fire and Emergency Services in St Inez, Panaji will soon serve as a state-of-the-art hub for disaster management training, starting from June, next year.
During the inaugural, the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also launched Agni Sandesh app thst will provide a real-time updates on fire incidents, including details on locations, attending stations, and fire statistics.
Starting in June next year, the Fire Services HQ will offer both short and long-term courses aimed at enhancing fire safety and disaster preparedness, including training for fire personnel and other disaster management professionals.
Sawant said that the Course, will be for all India students, as it has affiliations to Nagpur's Disaster Management College.
"We can start with short duration courses not just for fire personnel but for students who have completed their graduation. As disasters evolve, it's important to offer varied courses that focus on different types of disaster management," said Sawant.
These programs will provide certificates that could open up job opportunities both within India and abroad, he said.
The Rs 34 crore project also features modern amenities such as staff cabins, conference rooms, a fire control room, a motor transport garage, and recreational areas. Nitin Raiker, Director of Fire and Emergency Services, noted that the project is more than just an infrastructure upgrade; it is a leap toward modernizing fire safety and disaster management practices to meet current and future challenges.
