Drugs worth Rs 6.55 lakh seized at Vagator

MAPUSA: Anjuna Police arrested a native of Dehradun, Uttarakhand, but residing in Vagator on charges of possessing 878 grams of drugs worth Rs 6.55 lakh at Vagator on Friday night.

Police received information about the sale of drugs near the ground in Chiwar, Vagator, and laid a trap at the spot.

Police caught the accused, Sanjay Likia Das (26), when he came there to sell drugs.

During the search, 878 grams of hashish valued at Rs 6.55 lakh was found with the suspect.

He was later arrested in connection with this case.

According to sources, the suspect had arrived from Uttarakhand on October 23 and was staying with a friend in Vagator.

The raid was carried out by a team headed by PSI Saish Shetgaonkar under the guidance of Police Inspector Suraj Gawas.
