The Education Department has issued a directive to all aided institutions, instructing them to accept applications for the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) from staff members. This acceptance period will be open for applications submitted between December 12, 2023, and December 14, 2024.
This move follows the approval from the government to extend VRS benefits to staff at government-aided schools in the state. In response to a query from the Finance Department regarding the timeline for accepting VRS applications and the formation of a two-member committee for processing these applications, the government has confirmed a three-month extension starting from September 14, 2024, for processing VRS requests from GIA institutions.
Each aided institution must set up a two-member committee to review the VRS applications. This committee will include the Chairman of the School Managing Committee and a representative from the Deputy Director of Education's office. Once the committee approves an application, it will be sent to the Deputy Director for verification and then forwarded to the GIA section in the Directorate of Education for further action.
