Netravali Panch Rakhi Naik along with villagers from Velipwada-Verlem have accused the electricity department of failing to replace a damaged electricity pole in the village. Villagers residing at Velipwada that the pole, which is located in the midst of residential houses, is on the verge of collapse.
Naik claimed that for past many months she has been frequently requesting the engineer concerned to replace the pole but to no avail. “This damaged pole exists in a thickly residential area which is frequented by elderly people and children. Despite being aware of this dangerous condition of the electricity pole, the department has failed to act in the matter,” said Naik.
The villagers have also complained that in some cases, electricity cables have been tied to trees in the absence of electricity poles in the area.
Rakhi Naik claimed that the cables are tied to arecanut and guava trees at a very low height and could be very dangerous if any person accidentally touches the live cables.
