On Monday, the Traffic Police will test a new traffic diversion plan due to the ongoing work on the elevated corridor at Porvorim. Traffic will be redirected to the service roads near the Old Bazaar and Teen Building junctions as part of the trial.

The State government had originally planned the diversion on August 7, but the implementation was delayed due to concerns about managing traffic on the highway.

During the trial run, which will last all day, traffic will be redirected to the service roads at both junctions. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has set up signboards to inform drivers about the diversions.

Traffic from Mapusa to Panaji will be diverted to the left service road at the Teen Building junction. Police officers from all Traffic Police Cells in North Goa, as well as Porvorim Traffic Police, will be stationed at both junctions to manage the diversion. NHAI officers will also be present.

The officials will monitor traffic flow during the trial to decide whether to continue the diversion longer term during the corridor work. Heavy vehicles coming from Maharashtra via Patradevi to Mapusa will be rerouted through Banda, Dodamarg, and Bicholim.

A notification about further traffic changes from Marcela via Chorla Ghat to Mapusa and Panaji will be issued tomorrow by the State government, along with the Sindhudurg and Belagavi District Collectors.
