E-NAM implementation gets underway with central funds

Chairman of the Goa Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Board Prakash Velip has said that the Board has received a one-time gran under the Agri-Technology Infrastructure Fund for integration of the Mandis with the National Agriculture Market as part of the e-NAM implementation in the state of Goa.

Addressing the media, Velip said the Detailed Project Report for the seven Agriculture Produce Market Committee)/Market Sub-Yards / Principal Markets yards /Mandi at Valpoi, Sanquelim, Mapusa, Ponda, Margao, Curchorem and Canacona were submitted by Goa Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Board (GAPLMB) to Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) being the lead agency for implementing eNAM under the aegis of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India.

“The same were approved in the 18th Project Appraisal Committee (PAC) as a one-time grant under Agri-Technology Infrastructure Fund for integration of Mandis with National Agriculture Market, an amount of Rs 30 lakh per Mandi was approved totalling to 2.1 crore and the funds have been released to Goa Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Board, in the month of September 2022,” he said.

He said the Strategic Partner of Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), for the project have deployed the State Coordinator in the November 2022. “Subsequently Mandi Analyst have been deployed by the Strategic Partner in all the respective 07 Mandis offices in the Month of January 2023”, he said.

He added: “During the months of January 2023 till May 2023, Awareness sessions about e-NAM, its objectives, features and benefits to the trader and farmers were conducted by the Mandi Analyst and State Coordinator to make the Market yards office staff know about the e-NAM. The traders visiting the yards were provided information about the project and during the said period. As on date 572 Traders have been registered on the e-NAM portal.”

Velip said desktop computers and other Information Technology Communications equipment’s have been procured for making the all the seven market yards selected under e-NAM project to be IT ready.
