Accused released on bail next day
The car which was involved in the mishap at Mapusa late Sunday evening.

A tourist, who is a retired driver of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and damaging a stationary car and a traffic island in Mapusa late on Sunday evening.
Police said the incident took place late on Sunday evening when Anthony Marian Cardozo (66) of Mumbai was driving a car from Peddem towards Mapusa.
Cardozo drove his car on a no-entry road near the Paulo Garage, and his vehicle struck a car which was parked near Hotel Stone Hood. Both cars were damaged in the accident.
One tyre of Cardozo’s car also got deflated in the process, but he continued to proceed ahead, and his vehicle then struck the traffic island.
Cardozo drove his car for about 1 km before some motorists stopped him near the old building of the Mapusa Municipal Council and alerted the police.
A police team went to the site and took the accused into custody.
Acting on the complaint of Police Constable Shivaji Shetkar, Mapusa police arrested Cardozo under different offences. He was released on bail on Monday.
