Former Sanguem MLA Pandu Vasu Naik (76) passed away following a brief illness on Monday at 2.45 pm. Naik was elected twice as Sanguem MLA.

He was elected on Congress ticket in 1984 and then from new Sanguem constituency in 1994. He was the first MLA from Sanguem constituency to get a ministerial berth with portfolios like forest and mines ministry. Pandu Vasu Naik is survived by his wife, two sons, married daughter, daughter in laws and grand children. His last rites will be conducted on Tuesday at around 10 am.
