Guess the bus fare on a short journey from the Margao KTC bus stand to Aquem, near Pandva Chapel road junction?
Well, passengers are normally charged a fare amounting to Rs 15-20, if sources are to be believed. The Pandva Chapel road junction witnessed an uproar on Sunday evening after a group of passengers from Kerala complained that a bus conductor tried to fleece them by charging Rs 40 per person.
The tourists, who boarded the bus at the Margao KTC bus stand were heading to Aquem to catch the train to Kerala at the Margao railway station. However, the tourists raised an uproar after the conductor demanded a bus fare of Rs 40 per passenger. As they refused to pay the exorbitant fare, the tourists claimed some tried to misbehave with the women members of the group, triggering an uproar.
A Margao police team reached the spot to avert a law and order situation. But, locals demanded to know whether the police or the RTO will intervene and crack a whip against those involved in fleecing passengers and tarnishing the image of Goa.
