Even as a road accident on the wholesale fish market road in the wee hours of Saturday resulted in a death of one person, citizens have demanded that the Fatorda police ensure free movement of traffic on the road during fish-buying activity at the market.
One person died in the accident while another was seriously injured after a pick-up van is believed to have rammed against another vehicle, severing the hand of the deceased. The Margao fire brigade was called to the spot as the deceased and the injured were reportedly trapped inside.
Meanwhile, citizens demanded that the Fatorda police ensure orderly parking on the wholesale fish market road and a halt to illegal fishing-selling activities there.
The citizens have also urged the Margao Municipal Council to intervene and avoid such incidents in the future by ensuring proper parking along the road during peak hours.
