The completion ceremony of the newly constructed Shri Saptakoteshwar Temple at Shree Shantadurga Bhumipurush Saptakoteshwar Saunsthan, Fatorpa, will be celebrated from March 4 to 8.

President of Shri Shantadurga Bhumipurush Saptakoteshwar Saunsthan, Divakar B. Naik Desai, told the media that three years ago, on February 7, 2022, the main part of the temple was completed, and the Pratishtapana of Shri Saptakoteshwar was done. “The remaining work on the Upapith, Dipasthambha, and other carvings has been completed in the last three years, and the temple has been completely finished,” he said.

He added: “After restoring the entire temple of Shri Shantadurga Fatarpekarin and Sateri Devi about 28 years ago, the Mahajanas of the Saunsthan continuously decided to restore the Shri Saptakoteshwar Temple and finally decided in 2004 that the temple should be built in granite stone, and preparations began. The treasury of the Saunsthan was empty, and even then, putting the burden on God himself, with the help of the architect Shri Kamlakar Sadhale, Ponda, Goa, who studied temple science, and his son Shri Abhijit Sadhale, the foundation of the granite stone temple was finally laid on 2 November 2005.”

Divakar said that in the last eight hundred years, no complete stone temple has been built in Goa. “The Shri Mahadev temple in Goa, which is about eight hundred years old, is at Tambdi Surla and is about 70 to 80 square metres in area. But this temple at Fatorpa will be the only temple in Goa with an area of about 1,000 square metres and a height of 45 feet. The flag pillar, or Dipastambha, or Ayudhapurush pillar of this temple, is made of a single stone of 23 feet in height and has a four-foot large bronze trident on it, making its total height 27 feet,” he added.
