A number of parishioners celebrated the Feast of the Epiphany, also known as the Three Kings Feast, with traditional fervour at Reis Magos Church on Monday.
As part of the tradition, three men were depicted as the Three Kings, and they were Allwyn Nadar, Bonny D’Souza, and Jason D’Souza. The main celebrant at the Feast Mass was Father Mariano Costa.
Later, while speaking to media persons, Reis Magos Parish Priest Fr Orlando Marques said the Reis Magos Church is the first church in Bardez, built by Franciscans in 1555.
“This church has been declared a national monument by the central government. Apart from Reis Magos, this Feast of the Three Kings is also prominently celebrated with the depiction of Three Kings at Cansaulim and Chandor on January 6,” said Fr Marques.
“It is a tribute to the Three Kings or Wise Men who came with gifts to see Jesus Christ as an infant. The interesting aspect of this feast is that, although being a Christian festival, it is celebrated by Hindus with equal zeal,” said Fr Marques.
