The Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India, the apex body of the four regional associations representing the hospitality industry, gave away the FHRAI Hospitality Awards during its 54th Annual Convention in Goa on Friday.   

The theme for this year’s convention was ‘Tourism @2047: Incredible to Inevitable India – Driving Growth and Sustainability in a Mission Mode’.   

In a glittering award ceremony, dignitaries in the hospitality industry were felicitated and honoured with institutional and individual awards for their outstanding performance.

Anju Timblo, Managing Director and CEO of Fomento Resorts and Hotels Pvt Ltd, received the ‘Hotel Entrepreneur Award’ at the valedictory function on day three of the annual conference at Taj Cidade de Goa, Horizon.   

The award marks Anju Timblo’s strong presence in the hospitality industry, with her entire focus and passionate involvement over the past 40 years heading Fomento Resorts and Hotels Pvt Ltd.   

Anju Timblo, a gold medallist and top achiever in economics and law, has also been a law teacher. She initiated the Fomento Educational and Charitable Society (FECS) and a Hospitality College in Goa that is nurturing students to be perfectionists in the catering and hotel management industry.   

FHRAI, the third-largest hotel and restaurant association in the world, is committed to promoting and protecting the interests of the hospitality industry. The event was attended by founders and heads of hotels and restaurants across India, as well as CEOs, chairmen, managing directors, central and state government representatives, and others.   

The theme ‘Driving growth and sustainability in a Mission Mode’ was well underlined by the speakers and panellists across all verticals in the hospitality sector. After felicitating South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes and Suman Billa, additional secretary at the Ministry of Tourism in the Government of India, Pradeep Shetty, president of FHRAI, lauded the contribution of both dignitaries to their respective fields of work.   

In his motivational speech, the legendary South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes underlined the importance and strength of the Indian mindset.

“Change and intervention could depend upon your mindset and perception, and whether you look at change as an obstacle or an opportunity is what makes the difference. The growth mindset in India is an opportunity to take the country forward to make it an incredible India. There is scope and opportunity for everybody who is open and optimistic,” said the legendary cricketer of international repute.
