The 55th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is set to take place from 20th to 28th November 2024 in Goa. As part of the festival, the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) has curated a special section showcasing films by Goan directors and producers in both feature and non-feature categories.
This year, ESG received 25 entries across both categories, with 14 films selected by a distinguished jury comprising Chairman Kamal Swaroop and members Amar Nath Jha and Sajiv Kurup. ESG has expressed gratitude to the jury members for their exemplary work and congratulated the directors, producers, cast, and crew of the selected films.
New ‘Goan Director’s Cut’ Section Debuts
To further promote local talent, ESG has introduced a new segment titled “Goan Director’s Cut”, providing Goan filmmakers a dedicated platform to showcase their creative vision. The films selected under this section are:
1. Kharvan – Directed by Nitya Navelkar.
2. Hanging by a Thread – Directed by Akshay Parvatkar.
3. Guntata Hriday He – Directed by Sainath Uskaikar.
4. Mai – Directed by Saujas Shetye.

Additionally, films produced by Goan producers that have been selected include:
1. Prarabdh – Directed by Jay Amonkar.
2. Kalkhi Vaat – Directed by Shirish Rane.
3. Memoirs of the Mangifera – Directed by Himanshu Singh.
4. Aiz Maka Falea Tuka – Directed by Sreejith Karnavar.
5. Adeus – Directed by Nehal Chari and Aaditya Swaroop.
6. Aasro: The Story of Shram Dham – Directed by Sainath Uskaikar.
7. A Silent Sacrifice: The Untold Story of Goa Liberation – Directed by Nikhil Dixit.

Goa State Film Festival Returns in 2025
The ESG has also announced the return of the Goa State Film Festival in March 2025 after a hiatus since 2018. The 10th, 11th, and 12th editions of the festival will be held biennially, showcasing feature and non-feature films produced in Goa. The 10th edition will feature films produced between 1st January 2018 and 31st December 2019, the 11th for films from 2020 to 2021, and the 12th for films from 2022 to 2023.
Film Finance Scheme Applications Open Soon
ESG will soon invite applications under the Film Finance Scheme 2016, approved by the Directorate of Information and Publicity. The scheme will cover films produced between January 2018 and December 2023, after which it will undergo revision. Application forms will be available on the ESG website from 9th December 2024 to 18th January 2025, and submissions can be made between 21st January and 14th February 2025 during office hours.
