Finally, canteen facility revived at Ravindra Bhavan

MARGAO
There’s finally good news for tiatr lovers and visitors to the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao.

The Ravindra Bhavan canteen facility has been finally revived, three years after it was shut down during the Covid-19 pandemic.

And, if sources are to be believed, one can look forward to enjoy fish curry rice, besides other snacks at the canteen once it starts full-fledged operation from Monday.

The refurbished canteen was inaugurated on Wednesday in the presence of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, former Ravindra Bhavan chairman Damu Naik, including Chairman of the cultural institution, Rajendra Talak, Member Secretary Agnelo Fernandes members and citizens.

In his brief address, Member Secretary Agnelo Fernandes said the opening of the canteen was delayed for some time since the institution had to comply with certain mandatory formalities, including FDA norms.

Chairman Rajendra Talak also echoed similar sentiments, saying much time was lost in complying with the formalities. While expressing gratitude to the Margao MLA for supporting the work, Talak gave credit to his team for their unstinted support to revive the canteen facility and the institution.

He assured the gathering that Ravindra Bhavan will soon unveil a host of plans to make the institution vibrant and a happening place.

Former MLA Damu Naik made a fervent plea to the management of the institution to include in the menu millet food items since the country is observing Year of the Millet this year. “People should not only visit Ravindra Bhavan to watch tiatr and other cultural programmes, but also visit the canteen to enjoy the food prepared by the self-help group,” he said.

Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, in his brief address said the Ravindra Bhavan canteen should prepare good food so that people from far and wide visit the facility to enjoy the food.

He said the Ravindra Bhavan will soon play host to major events, including the International Children Film festival, besides screening of IFFI films later this year.
