SANGUEM

Continuous rains in Sanguem and Quepem talukas have disrupted daily life, causing widespread flooding and inundating agricultural plantations.

In Netravali, Sanguem, the local river swelled over the danger mark, flooding a temple on the riverbank. Surrounding agricultural plantations were submerged, with water levels rising rapidly.

At Khutiwada, rainwater entered the house of Lata Gaonkar, surrounding it on three sides and making it unsafe for her family to leave.

In Sanguem, the river swelled significantly and may flood nearby areas if the rain continues.

In Curchorem, the road at Ambedkar Circle was deeply flooded, causing difficulties for motorists and two-wheeler riders. This annual issue has persisted since GSIDC’s beautification works around Bandodkar Circle, lacking a proper drainage system.

In Quepem, the Paroda bridge to Avedem village and the road to Margao remained submerged. Villagers have long demanded a solution, suggesting the road and bridge height be increased to prevent annual flooding.

Due to the flooding, vehicles were diverted via Assolna and Chandor. Authorities posted policemen on either side of the bridge to prevent anyone from venturing into the floodwaters.
