The State Forest Department on Tuesday said refuted the viral video claim that showed a tigress and two cubs roaring in the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary area.
In a statement issued, the department stated that the video is three year old and it is not related to Goa.
“The tiger and two cubs video viral on social media is neither related to Mhadei Wildlife sanctuary nor the state of Goa and that it is almost 3 years old,” the department said.
It has also urged public and media to refrain from sharing any unverified information about schedule-I animals.
However, it was earlier reported that the video of a tigress moving around with her two cubs along the Chorla area was captured by locals and the same was confirmed by the environmentalist Rajendra Kerkar.
Kerkar even confirmed that the tigress is often found roaring along the Chorla Ghat area.
He had said that a recent study by Karnataka and Maharashtra forest officials have revealed that the tigers, sighted in the Goa’s wild are resident tigers and not migratory.
