Former Goa governor Mridula Sinha passed away in Delhi on Wednesday. She was 77.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid homage to her tweeting: “She worked for the nation, society and organization throughout her life. She was also an accomplished writer who will always be remembered for her writing.”

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and current Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari also condoled Sinha's passing away.

Sinha, a low-profile Bharatiya Janata Party woman activist, held the Governor's post for a term and came in for scrutiny for her controversial role in installing the Manohar Parrikar led coalition government post the 2017 Assembly elections despite the Congress emerging the single largest party.
