The Furtado Fuel Centre, an enterprise of former Navelim MLA Avertano Furtado, was inaugurated at the Western bypass junction at Navelim on Monday.
The fuel centre was inaugurated at the hands of Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar in the presence of Water Resources Department Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues, Revenue Minister Jennifer Monseratte, MLAs Vijai Sardesai, Rohan Khaunte, Glen Ticlo, Joshua D’Souza and Alina Saldanha, former MLAs Caitu Silva, Benjamin D’Silva, Naresh Sawal, Aleixo Sequeira, Telaulim Sarpanch Steven Goes and others. Navelim Parish Priest Fr Arlino D’Mello blessed the venture.
In his brief address, Deputy Chief Minister complimented Avertano for launching the fuel centre, saying the station will cater to the requirements of the motorists, both local as well as those traveling on the highway.
“I and Avertano had worked together in the last Assembly when he was the minister and I was in the opposition. But, Avertano was one minister who had worked with humility by taking everyone together,” Kavlekar said.
Avertano expressed his happiness that the present and past MLAs, who had worked with him when he was a minister, besides
others, have all graced the function.
He thanked the Deputy Chief Minister, Navelim Parish Priest, priests and all the guests for gracing the occasion.
The fuel centre operated by Hindustan Petroleum will have all the amenities, with provision being made for CNG and car battery chargers for future requirements.
