A spacious panchayat Ghar for Assolna Panchayat will soon become a reality. Velim MLA Cruz Silva recently laid the foundation stone for the ground-plus-two-storey building, which will include shops on the ground floor, the Panchayat office on the first floor, and a hall on the second floor.
Speaking at the event, the MLA said the ground floor will have five shops, while the first floor will house the Panchayat office. “Cabins have been provided for the Sarpanch and Secretary. A conference room will also be available for meetings, with enough space for all Panchayat members,” he said.
He added: “The second floor will have a hall that can accommodate up to 120 people. The building will feature an RCC sloping roof with Mangalore tiles to give it a traditional Goan look. A lift will be available for easy access to the Panchayat office on the first floor and the hall on the second floor.”
Separate toilet facilities are provided for ladies and gents with wash basins and W.C. to maintain hygiene and comfort. Proper ramp access has been provided for specially abled persons”.
He said the Assolna Panchayat ghar will be built under the upgradation of Infrastructure in the Rural Areas under Deen Dayal Panchayat Raj Infrastructure Development (Golden Jubilee) scheme 2013.
