PANAJI: Covid numbers in the state continue to rise with 523 new Covid-19 cases being recorded on Friday. Four more Covid deaths have also been recorded taking the number of Covid-reated deaths to 175 till date.
Active Covid cases in Goa stand at 3,535. Till date, a total of 4,512 asymptomatic Covid-19 patients have opted for home isolation, out of whom 366 are presently recovering at home. With the addition of 429 recoveries on Friday, the total number of recovered patients so far is 12,296.
The deaths reported on Friday include a 59-year-old woman from New Vaddem in Vasco, who was admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim and passed away on Thursday; an 84-year-old woman from Mormugao admitted to GMC with comorbidities breathed her last on Friday; a 70-year-old man from Baina admitted to ESI Covid Hospital with comorbid conditions expired on Thursday and a 53-year-old man from Bethoda in Ponda, admitted to ESI Covid Hospital with comorbidities, lost his battle with the infection on Friday.
A total of 16,006 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in the state so far, which is a little over one per cent of Goa’s total population. With this, Goa has become the first state in the country to have over one per cent of its population affected by the coronavirus.
