From controversial demolition of Assagao house to dramatic turn by victim family

Despite the Agarwadekar family's sudden U-turn into the demolition of their house in Assagao, the Crime Branch registered a case in a late night development and added charges including criminal trespass, assault and rioting.


The CB also formed a four member Special Investigation Team and arrested a conspirator from Vasco. A vehicle spotted at the crime scene has also been seized.


The case has been full of dramatic developments since the controversial demolition last Saturday, with the government also stepping in to rebuild the house and ordering an inquiry led by Chief Secretary.


"As per the formal order received from the authority, Crime branch has taken over the investigation of the ongoing Anjuna police station case. A 4-member SIT has been formed. Upon taking over investigation and based on initial evidences sections 440, 447, 448, 352, 354, 143 147, 148 read 149, 120B IPC have been added to the case for Criminal Trespass, Assault, And Rioting," the SP said. 


Ashfak Kadir Sheikh who gave a four wheeler to the main accused for the crime was also arrested, and vehicle seized. 


"The same vehicle was captured in footages captured from the scene of crime," Gupta said. 


The Agarwadekar family decided to compromise on the case with even issuing a statement to withdraw the complaint. One of the main accused Pooja Sharma remains absconding. The case has so far seen three arrests
