The North Goa District Congress, President Vijay Bhike on Tuesday said that the recent decision of the Mapusa Municipal Council to divert 14th Finance Commission funds to develop the new bus stand was only to score political points.
“The civic elections are due and the hapless council which has hardly done anything for Mapusa wants to show the people that they have done something,” Bhike said.
Expressing disappointment on the diversion of funds, former chairperson and senior councilor, Sudhir Kandolkar said that the municipality administrative block was also an important project and the council should give priority to the administrative block rather than the bus stand.
