Ahead of the joint inspection ordered by the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) at Sernabatim-Colva on Friday, social activist Judith Almeida on Thursday moved the District Collector complaining of the likelihood of law and order problem, besides physical harm to her.

Taking cognisance of Judith’s complaint, Additional Collector Srinet Kothwale has requested the Superintendent of Police, South to make necessary police deployment at the location. A request has also been made to the Deputy Collector and SDM, Salcete to make necessary magisterial arrangements by taking all precautionary measures to avoid any untoward incidents and for maintaining law and order.

In her petition to the Collector, Judith pointed out that the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority has fixed a site Inspection on September 20 from 11 am onwards at Novo Vaddo-Sernabatim. She pointed out that the judgement dated July 3, 2017 has only six private respondents in the matter, adding that it is strange that the GCZMA without giving any reasons has issued notices and included several other survey numbers and 29 other respondents who were never a part of this petition.

“This is a cause for worry as the presence of so many persons is likely to cause a law and order problem. It is also to bring to your notice that earlier this year during a site Inspection in Sernabatim village by the GCZMA, I was physically attacked with stones and attempted to beat up with a coconut branch. A complaint I lodged at the Colva Police State has not evoked any action by the police. There is apprehension that a law and order problem could erupt or this complainant may be physically attacked. Hence you are requested to take necessary action to prevent any untoward incident," Judith has stated in her petition to the Collector.
