Stating that the Blood Bank at the Goa Medical College Hospital in Bambolim requires blood, Union AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik has appealed to people to come forward and donate their blood, which would save the lives of patients.
“Blood gets replenished in the body soon and one should not be afraid of donating blood. I have donated blood several times,” said Naik.
The union minister was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a blood donation camp organised by Sanjay Centre for Special Education in association with the GMC Blood Bank.
“Blood donation is a noble deed which saves the lives of patients. In a way, it is social service and hence, healthy individuals, especially youth, should donate blood.”
“This is the eighth year that Sanjay Centre for Special Education has been organising this annual camp and they deserve appreciation,” he added.
State BJP President Sadanand Shet Tanavade said people realised the importance of blood donation during the Covid pandemic.
“Since many people have a busy schedule and don’t get time to go to GMC hospital to donate blood, such blood donation camps have become a necessity,” said Tanavade.
Earlier in his welcome address, Sanjay Centre for Special Education Chairman Guruprasad Pawaskar said they have got a good response to the blood donation camps.
“The stock of blood we collect get exhausted within two months and hence, the Sanjay Centre has decided to conduct blood donation camp twice a year,” said Pawaskar.
Dr Sidhi Ravul and Sanjay Centre for Special Education Member Secretary Neetal Amonkar also spoke at the occasion.
