In a tweet, Goa Airport claimed to have handled 156 flights (78 arrivals and 78 departures) with a total passenger footfall of 21,042, which included 8,205 arrivals and 12,837 departures.
“Goa International Airport was the busiest in AAI Western Region Airports on Sunday,” added the tweet.
Meanwhile, there has been a demand among passengers for flights between Goa and Mangalore.
In a tweet on the Goa Airport twitter account, a user put forth one such demand: “Why doesn't Goa have flights to Mangalore? How come Mangalore was ignored with no flights to Goa since years? Many Goans live in Mangalore and vice versa. Similar traditions are followed. Mangalore is Goa of the South. But why don't we have flights to Goa?”
In reply to the user, the Goa airport stated: “It's primarily network planning by the airlines. If any airline wishes to connect, they are more than welcome.”
