The Goa Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education on Wednesday released the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on some aspects of evaluation and tabulation of SSC results for 2021.

The SSC and HSSC examinations were cancelled due to the ravaging second wave of Covid-19 infections in the State forcing the Board to come up with an evaluation module based on performance in internal tests and also standard IX performance.

In the SOPs issued on Wednesday, the Board’s Secretary Geraldine Mendes has said for those candidates who for some reason have not appeared for the practical exams already conducted before the exam was called off, it can be conducted online/viva or the average marks obtained in internal practicals be counted.

A couple of other aspects mentioned by Mendes involve the assessment of the students’ class IX performance which is being given some weightage.

Mendes said in cases where students had not opted for a subject in class IX which is opted in class X, then marks obtained in a “similar” subject or average of the grand total should be taken as performance in class IX.

In cases where students opted for only two languages in class IX, then average marks of these two languages are to be considered as marks for the third language in class X as the performance of class IX, the SOPs issued by Mendes said.
