Coming down heavily on those involved in littering public places, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today, in a stern action, announced to impose hefty fines as well as impounding vehicles involved in illegal dumping of waste.
During his online interaction on the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' Campaign, Sawant also urged the general public to take photos of illegal dumping and forward it to concerned authorities including police for necessary action.
Further, the Chief Minister also directed all the contractors responsible for waste collection from hotels and industries, to register their total waste collection along with disposal location with co-concerned Panchayats or Solid Waste Management authorities.
Under the 'Ek Sath, Ek Taas' initiative, Sawant mandated that all panchayats conduct routine cleanup drives, urging, “Every panchayat should dedicate a day until October 2 to collect waste and sell it for scrap, with proceeds supporting garbage collection staff.”
Sawant warned that strict action will be taken if any industrial waste is found improperly disposed of.
Additionally, the government will award certificates to the cleanest government offices on a taluka-wise basis on October 2.
