PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today urged youth to join politics to fill up the vacuum while emphasizing the need of the younger generation in nation-building.
Addressing Young Leaders conclave, Sawant pointed out that 50% of BJP leaders began their journey as student leaders.
Sawant stressed the need for fresh leadership from all sections of society, saying, "There is a vacuum in society; we need leaders who can represent everyone."
CM Sawant shared his personal journey, explaining how he left his salaried job as a doctor to enter politics. He recalled how he lost his first election, but in the following years, he became Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly and later, the Chief Minister of the state. He encouraged students to make use of the opportunities available to them, stressing that such opportunities don't come around often.
Sawant also spoke about the importance of self-awareness. "Know yourself first, identify your strengths, and use them to contribute towards a viksit bharat," he said. He urged Goan youth to take advantage of the various opportunities available within the state, pointing out that many youths from outside Goa are already making the most of these opportunities.
"Goa has enough funds to support youth initiatives. Don’t wait for opportunities to knock on your door again. Take action now, as these chances might not be available in the future," CM Sawant advised.
