Manohar Fatu Bhangui, a distinguished freedom fighter whose legacy is commemorated at the Sinquerim-based Aguada Interactive Museum – ‘Goa: The Land, The Struggle, The People’ – was arrested on November 13, 1956, in Panchwadi village, South Goa. As a member of the Azad Gomantak Dal (AGD), Bhangui supplied information to AGD workers about police activities and made arrangements for supplying food to them. In connection with his support to AGD, Bhangui was arrested on November 13, 1956, detained in jail, and released on May 16, 1957, on parole. To avoid further arrest, he escaped to Karnataka and carried on underground activities to help the Goan freedom struggle.
