PANAJI: The Goa government today signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with one of India' largest hospitality company, the Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL), to set up a new Skill Development Centre at tourist centric Aguada Fort, in North Goa.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and CEO IHCL, Puneet Chatwal. The initiative is aimed at boosting training in the hospitality sector and creating employment opportunities for the youth.
Speaking during the event, Sawant said that the new centre will offer skill development courses to 1,000 students annually.
He further added that the centre, which will be the largest of its kind at Aguada Fort, will initially offer four courses and will be expanded gradually.
“The project is expected to be completed within one year. The goal is to train 10,000 students by 2030,” Sawant said.
The Chief Minister said that the Skill Development Centre will focus on training young people for jobs in the tourism and hospitality industry.
'We are committed to providing the right skills to our youth and improving employment prospects," he said.
Speaking later, Chatwal expressed excitement over the firm collaboration with the Goa government to help skill the youth of the state.
"Through this partnership, we aim to empower young people with the necessary training and skills to succeed in the hospitality industry," he said.
