PANAJI: BJP National General Secretary Sunil Bansal is expected to arrive in Goa on Friday to chair the much awaited Party President election process.
A new State President will be announced on Saturday.
BJP spokesperson Premanand Mhambrey, at a press conference today said that the election will take place tomorrow with 59 voters, including 10 percent of BJP MLAs and two Members of Parliament (MPs), casting their votes.
"The new state president will be announced on Saturday" he said adding that seven shortlisted names were sent to the BJP central leadership for approval.
Those whose names were shortlisted for the post of next state party President included former ministers Dayanand Mandrekar, Dilip Parulekar, and former Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar. Also included in the list are former South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar, along with former MLAs Dayanand Sopte, Damu Naik and senior party leader Govind Parvatkar.
Party sources have indicated that Damu Naik is the frontrunner for the post.
