MARGAO: Konkani writer and activist Fr. Mousinho de Ataide has been nominated as the president of the All India Konkani Parishad. He will take over the charge from Arun Ubhaykar from Kumta, Karnataka who was holding the position for last two years.
Born in Salvador do Mundo in 1950, Fr. Ataide was Ordained as a Priest in the year 1975. Since his ordination, Ataide has served in different positions in the Archdiocese of Goa. He completed his licentiate in canon law from the Urbanian University, Rome and served as a professor of Canon law at the seminary of Rachol for 15 years. He was the Dioceson Judge from 1990 to 2019.
Presently he is serving as a professor of Latin for post graduate students at the seminary of Saligao-Pilerne. He is the author of historical monograph on the seminary of Rachol. He is widely known in the Konkani circles as a committed activist.
