Speaking for the first time on the jobs-for-cash scandal, Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik, who represents Ponda which is the epicentre of police investigation, on Friday said "strong action" has already been taken and that the "godfather" and "godmother" will also land in the police dragnet very soon.
“Strong action is already being taken. So many arrests have been made. The 'godfather' and 'godmother' will also be nabbed,” Naik said when media persons asked him to comment on the scandal playing out in the State.
More jobs-for-cash cases on Friday came to light with the Bicholim police registering a case against a man from Sattari for duping some persons to the tune of Rs 21.5 lakh on the pretext of providing them government jobs.
In Vasco, police registered an offense against a Sancoale based woman, Diksha Talavanekar, for allegedly cheating Mina Chodankar of Rs 3 lakh on the pretext of offering a government job.
In another case registered in Bardez, a woman from Nadora filed a complaint with the Colvale police, alleging that her husband was cheated of Rs 4 lakh by a Vasco-based accused, Uma Patil, who had promised to secure him a government job.
