Loss worth about Rs 1 lakh reported

Goods estimated to be worth Rs 1 lakh were destroyed in a fire at a house in Lakhere-Bicholim late on Tuesday night.
The incident took place at around 11 pm when a short circuit is suspected to have started the fire at the house of Pratiksha Pednekar. Electrical appliances, utensils, and clothes were destroyed in the fire.
A fire brigade from the Bicholim fire station later extinguished the fire.
On Wednesday, Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye, along with Bicholim Councillors Nilesh Tople and Aniket Chanekar, visited the site and inspected the damage.
Dr Shetye said he would work to provide all possible support through the Chief Minister’s Fund and other means.
