The government has rolled back its decision to hike fees for beach weddings and events. The Environment dept had previously revised the fees to Rs 1 lakh per day for events on Goa's beaches, significantly increasing costs. However, a fresh corrigendum now reinstates the earlier structure of Rs 1 lakh per event for a maximum of five days, with Rs 10,000 charged per day thereafter.
In addition, any parties seeking to revise their event plans after receiving approval would be subject to an additional 10% fee on top of the base charges.
Separately, the department had also set a Rs 1 lakh fee for approvals related to the construction of sewage treatment plants on land.
