Govt’s Har Ghar Jal claim in Shiroda questioned

OLD GOA

Amid government claims that Goa has become the first State in India to provide tap water to all households, the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) highlighted the situation in Shiroda where Har Ghar Jal is nothing but a myth.

Speaking to reporters in Panaji, RGP chief Manoj Parab said when he along with other party functionaries visited areas like Paj, Ambegal, Bimbal and others, it came to their light that in some areas there was no tap connectivity while in other areas people depended on water from wells and springs.

“This totally exposes the government’s claim on Har Ghar Jal,” Parab informed and condemned the government for making false claims that tap water has reached every household in Goa.

Ashlon from Panchwadi informed that in Ambegal ward the water connection has not reached the households despite there existing a dam in the area.

“The people are dependent on well water for their daily needs,” Ashlon stated while adding that the water from the well is pumped only for 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening.

Further, he informed that the water is directly supplied to the households without filteration.

Shailesh Naik from Shiroda informed that in Bimbal, water is supplied from a spring through a tap provided under CSR scheme.

“The villagers fill their utensils from this tap and carry it in their homes,” Naik stated.
