The State government has modified two agriculture schemes, enhancing the quantum of funds officials will be pre-authorised to spend on conducting educational meetings for farmers.
One scheme thus modified via a notification is the ‘Promotion of Vegetable with Assured Market' scheme under which farmers will be educated for commercial cultivation of vegetables, harvests monitored and the produce graded, packaged and transported up to the procurement centres.
The second scheme modified is the ‘Western Ghat Development Programme’ where training programmes will be conducted for up to 50 farmers in each of the Western Ghats zones. Each such training programme will be permitted a spend of Rs 15,000.
The scheme has now been expanded to also hold 'Krishi Mahotsav' for up to 500 farmers in each Western Ghat zone with a total spend of up Rs 1.5 lakhs to defray expenses of the pandal, transport cost of the farmers, honorarium for the guest lecturers besides refreshment and lunch.
