Govt serious on cash-for-jobs scam: CM; says SSC to advertise govt posts

PANAJI:

Against the backdrop of a series of cash-for-job scams surfacing, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured stringent legal action against all those involved in such fraudulent schemes.

Addressing a press conference after the cabinet meeting today, Sawant stated that the government is serious about the issue while also urging the public to not fall prey to such tricks.

“A thorough investigation is underway into the job scam. No one will be left scot-free,” he said reiterating that people, particularly job aspirants should remain cautious and avoid trusting anyone luring jobs beyond the official recruitment process.

The CM further revealed that multiple FIRs against accused persons have been registered at various police stations.

“Some people are willing to pay for non-existent jobs but people must stay alert and report such cases to the police/authorities,” he added.

The CM further assured that all government positions would now be filled through the transparent process of the Staff Selection Commission. “Any vacancies in the government departments will be advertised,” he said.

As part of the "Swayampurna Goa's Vision for All" initiative, Sawant announced that around 30,000 students across Goa have received ophthalmic checkups, with free spectacles provided to those around 12,000 students in need. Additionally, minor surgeries were conducted for 8 to 9 students.

“Trained teachers initially screened students at the taluka level before ophthalmologists conducted thorough examinations. Early intervention is necessary and parents should stay vigilant about their children's eye health,” he said.

Extending Diwali greetings, Sawant also encouraged a celebration that respects others and supports a safe, pollution-free environment.
