With Plaster of Paris (PoP) Ganesh idols being washed ashore even after the 7th day of the festival, Environment Minister Alexio Sequeira assured the State that Village Biodiversity Committees will collect these idols and hand them over to the Goa Waste Management Corporation for proper disposal.
The minister acknowledged receiving complaints about PoP idols washing ashore after one and a half days, five days and seven days of Ganesh Visarjan.
"We received complaints about PoP Ganesh idols washing ashore. We have asked the Village Biodiversity Committees to collect these idols and ensure they are disposed of appropriately," he said.
The government had earlier claimed that they would impose a strict ban and maintain vigilance against the sale of PoP idols.
