Information Technology Minister Rohan Khaunte on Tuesday disclosed plans to introduce an AI-based chatbot to enhance service delivery to citizens, making it more efficient and effective. Initially, the chatbot will be introduced in sectors like Tourism, Public Grievances, and Goa Online.

He also emphasised the strong link between tourism and IT, stating that technology interventions are crucial for the future of tourism. “Initiatives like the TIME software for data analysis, Tourism Marketplace App, automation registration process, and an automatic challan system are already in progress,” Khaunte added.

“Goa aspires to be a part of this growth revolution by becoming the next hub of the tech-based economy through emerging technologies and creative spaces,” he further said.

In line with the e-District Mission Mode Project of the Union government, a total of 227 end-to-end services from 35 departments have been shifted to the Goa Online website. Presently, there are 6.8 lakh registered users, and the platform has recorded 22.57 lakh transactions.

To safeguard important public documents, the digitization of data and documents related to Tourism, Registration, Labour And Employment, Printing and Stationary, as well as Archives and IT Departments are currently underway.

Khaunte also disclosed the government’s commitment to provide free Wi-Fi hotspots in public places across rural areas, aiming to bridge the digital divide, foster inclusivity, and empower communities.

The minister also informed the Legislative Assembly that the government has already disbursed Rs 3.27 crore to 115 beneficiaries under the Goa Start-Up policy.

This scheme has successfully encouraged numerous budding entrepreneurs to establish their start-ups, which has led to creating job opportunities for others as well.

“We have appointed a full-time CEO to ensure dedicated functioning and support for Start-Ups. The state has granted incentives worth Rs 80 lakhs to 15 registered IT units under the IT policy,” he said in response to demands on the IT Department.
