Almost all 1400 odd schools, where mid-day meal is supplied have now adopted an automated system to monitor the meal supply.
Education Director Shailesh Zingade said that last year, 39% of schools were reportedly using the system however, the coverage is 100 per cent this year.
Education Department has also received the first instalment for mid-day meals, with the central government sanctioning Rs 18.78 crore. The state government’s share is Rs 10.99 crore, and an additional Rs 8.48 crore will be contributed by the Goa government. In total, Rs 38.25 crore will be spent on mid-day meals for the current academic year, Zingde confirmed.
