Stating that the government has received several complaints against the aided schools, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant Thursday warned all such educational institutions of strict action.

Addressing state-level Teacher’s Day functions, Sawant, who also holds the education portfolio, said that the education department has received several complaints against aided school managements, teachers and other staffers. “We have also come across aided schools where students are facing several problems. We will be taking strict action against all such schools. The process has started,” he said.

Sawant said that these aided schools are also dependent on government grants and hence, the State has all powers to act against such erring schools and its management. “Many a time, people think the government has no control over aided schools but whenever we get complaints, through the education department, action has been initiated,” he said.

The Chief Minister even warned the school management, who despite timely grants, delay the salaries of teaching and non-teaching staff or support or ignore unhealthy attitude of teachers towards students.

Referring to the recent student assault case, wherein two teachers from a private primary school were arrested, Sawant said, “It is very unfortunate that such incidents are happening in our schools… these things should never happen…a teacher by heart will never act in such a way.”

Stating that the teachers are the architect of society, Sawant said that of late we have seen students moving in the wrong direction, getting involved in rape, murder, theft and other crimes or even suicide. “This all needs to be stopped. The teacher is an architect of the society …after parents, teachers should be the best minds in the country and their education needs to inspire and empower the future of our nation,” he said.
