The programme of Gauri Pujan, which is considered as the important tradition of Ganesh Chaturthi, was celebrated with great enthusiasm on the fifth day in the Sattari taluka.
Gauri Pujan is considered a specific celebration in the Sattari taluka. During Ganesh Chaturthi, Gauri Pujan is celebrated as a traditional form of worship. In many villages, this Gauri worship programme is held on the fifth day, and in some places it is celebrated on the sixth or seventh day. Women in many villages in the Sattari taluka also participated in the Gauri Pujan. It is celebrated by wearing traditional clothes. In many places, there is a programme of Gauri Pujan in form of water. At this time, all the women venerate the goddess in the water and come home and worship in front of Ganapati.
On the fifth day of Ganesh Chaturthi, all the villages of the Sattari have a tradition of celebrating the festival in Koparde Pisurle, Nagargaon, Satre, Durode, Kodal, Honda, Khadki, Guleli, Dhamse, Mauxi, Dabos, etc. This year, the Gauri pujan will be celebrated on the sixth day in seven villages in Thane panchayat area.
Gauri Pujan was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Koparde. The good fortune of the village has emphasized with the traditional Nauwari saree. After the Gauri Pujan, the tradition of putting "Hausse" in front of every Ganapati in the village (food cooked on a turmeric leaf) is celebrated. Large number of women participated in it. Similarly, Gauri Pujan was celebrated in Keri areas.
Meanwhile, an elder Bhagyashree Gavkar said that the tradition of celebrating the traditional Gauri Pujan in the Sattari taluka has ben going on for the last hundreds of years. Importantly, newly married women also participate in this. The festival is celebrated in different villages in the Sattari taluka in different ways.
Gopiki Gavkar of Thane said Gauri Pujan for married women is considered prestigious. Every woman is fortunate to worship Parvati Devi. During the Ganesh Chaturthi period, Gauri Pujan is a happy moment for every woman.
