The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has directed the KFC outlet, located at St Inez, to immediately shut all operations for operating without the required consent to operate under the Air and Water Act.
The outlet, managed by M/s. Devyani International Limited, was inspected following a complaint from social activist Kashinath Shetye.
The inspection, conducted on September 4 revealed that while the outlet had exhaust systems and grease traps in place, it was operating without formal approval.
The GSPCB noted that the outlet had applied for consent through the Online Consent Management & Monitoring System but had not yet obtained it.
The inspection report indicated that the outlet was disposing of waste through the CCP and sourcing water from the PWD with wastewater being directed into the PWD sewer line.
The GSPCB's directive mandates that the outlet cease operations immediately and cannot reopen until it secures the necessary approvals.
