First batch of 100 students of BAMS inducted at AIIA Goa

Highlighting the potentials of Ayurveda, Goa University Vice Chancellor Harilal Menon has motivated students of the satellite institute at All India Institute of Ayurveda in Goa to conduct Goa-centric research.
He was addressing the induction programme of the first batch of 100 BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) students of the recently inaugurated satellite institute of AIIA in Goa which was organised on Monday.
“Research is something that has been lacking in India. It is time that we adopt the formula of ‘re’ plus ‘search’ for research. Being in Goa, you should do Goa-centric research. If you survey the length and breadth of Goa, you would find people suffering from many diseases and the reasons behind the same have not been found yet. We should look forward to solving these issues,” he advised the students.
Union Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Naik emphasised that the institute would help boost medical tourism in Goa.
Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking special initiatives to boost Ayurveda and for increasing the budget allocated to the Ayurveda institutes, Naik also thanked the Prime Minister for planning a special Ayush Visa to foster medical tourism.
Discussing some facts about Ayurveda to garner interest of students, Dr Manoj Nesari, Advisor in the Ministry of Ayush, said, “Ayurveda is one of the most advanced sciences of its times and had already conceptualised concepts such as biotechnology. The sky is the limit for the Ayurvedic practitioners over here.”
