Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai distributed financial aid to the Gujarati Education Trust and other institutions in the city on Saturday, taking the total amount of aid distributed by the governor during the last three and a half years from his fund to a whopping Rs 6.24 crore.

The governor started the exercise of distributing funds to dialysis and cancer patients, as well as institutions sheltering differently-abled children, orphanages, and the elderly, after undertaking the Goa Gram Sampurna Yatra. So far, the governor has distributed financial aid to patients and institutions to the tune of Rs 6.24 crore.

Addressing the programme organised by the Gujarati Samaj Education Trust Special School, the governor said that service to differently-abled children is service to God. He offered full assistance to the institution to meet its needs in the future as well.

In his address, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat said that Governor Pillai will go down in the history of Goa as a governor who has toured every village and institution sheltering children, the elderly, and special children to understand their difficulties before distributing financial aid.

“Goa has had several governors in the recent past, but Governor Pillai will be known for visiting every village and institution to understand their problems and issues before disbursing financial aid,” Kamat added.
